A step backward

Arla has taken a few steps backward in the last two days.  She is fatiguing quickly, not following commands, lacking the ability to hold herself upright during therapy, and is generally unable to participate in her therapies.  This is not good.  Her team of nurses, doctor, and therapists met today to consider the causes of this decline.  This could be something as simple as a bladder infection or something more critical.  However, even a bladder infection could be devastating to Arla’s recovery.  She is very weak at this time.

Later today, Arla will be going through a battery of tests (some at Lutheran Hospital) to see if the doctors can determine a cause for her fatigue.  Pray that the doctors may reveal the cause of this issue.  Pray that Arla may begin to heal and be able to return to her therapy routines.  Pray for Harold as he faces this defeat.

I continue to pray for Arla’s recovery. I pray that this is a temporary setback and a cause will be found and corrected. She is in good hands–her doctors’ and God’s.

Or could it be simply they are pushing her too hard too fast??? Mom told me how long her therapy lasts a day and I couldn’t believe it… just a thought…

    • They are not pushing her too hard. While she could benefit from a break in the morning, that is not the case in this situation. Also if she cannot handle what they want her to do, she will not be able to stay at that hospital. We have something medical going on that needs to be identified and addressed.
